Here's how I hacked my Sony Ericsson P1i to run the Walkman 3.0 of W960.
Download and install the following softwares in the given order.(Download links for these software's are given in the bottom of the post)
- Sony Ericsson PC Suite For Smartphones
- Python-2.5.1 (If asked to restart computer, restart it)
- Win32-py2.5
- Pyserial-2.2.win32
Copy "1.py"(from the Rar file link below) file into your C:\ drive (on computer).
Install APP TRK on your phone (Install it on PHONE MEMORY).
Connect your phone to your computer in 'Phone Mode'.Check to which port the SE P1i is connected(use device manager).In my case it is port 23.
Open 1.py in notepad and edit the port number given in the file to your actual port number minus 1.(In my case it is 22)my P1i uses the port '23', then 23 -1 it so I have '22', edit the file 1.py to match your port -1. Save the file.
Stat the TRKApp installed in phone memory.And it will show as connected.
Double clicked the file 1.py and it will execute some commands it the command prompt window and exit.
Now you can access all private files in the phone memory using Swiss manager or X-plore.
Now lets come to the Walkman hacking part of P1i.Download this archive and copy the contents of the folder C from the archive to your C:\ drive of your phone(i.e your phone memory) using X-plore. How I did was to replace(overwrite) all the files to the C:\ drive.Restart your phone and enjoy the W960 Walkman ported to your P1i with all the function.Now you could use all the function available in the Walkman headset.(Performing the following hack without expert advice can seriously damage your phone)

There will not be any problem with your p1i firmware if you install walkman.it gets installed just as an application.
You will just have to configure the shortcuts properly to suit qwerty.
i have done it at first time all ok 10q so much
but when i do my 2nd p1i systemhack i hace try 20 time... but srill cant can i know hwat happen? pls do help...

Hi. I would like to ask your firmware version of the P1i. I've been trying to install the walkman player 3.0 on my phone and I made sure that I followed the instructions carefully. But unfortunately, it can't be installed.

I would like to know if I have to change my firmware so I could install the player succesfully.

After successfully pasting the files in the correct folder and rebooting you can find the walkman application in the TOOLS folder

only the CDA is different from yours..
are you able to access your private folders.
what was the message which came after running the commands in 1.py(to see the message run 1.py from command prompt...otherwise it will close without showing any message)
i've followed the instruction completely but when software installed it didnt work.the message when i click on software's icon is "application could not be started".i had not any version of walkman before.plz help me..

this is because u must have opened the default music player already.
First close the default music player from the task manager of p1i and then run the walkman from the applications.
sir, before I hack my P1i what would I do 1st i just bought my phone yesterday...any tips before I perform such task? and its my 1st tym to use Sonyericsson phone.. thanks!

I'm glad that u became a P1i user.Its one of the best phones...and there's nothing special to do before you install walkman 3.0 for p1i ..it will install finely..

Now there is no need to do all the python scripting.
So the steps you should do is
1)install capsswitch
2)Download this archive
http://www.agathosyne.de/files_ext/wplayer_v3_swmail_mod.zip
3)using xplore copy the contents of the folder C from the archive to your C:\ drive of your phone(i.e your phone memory)
4)restart phone...
So easy right...

you can use keys 2 and 8 to control volume........just press all the number keys and u can easily learn all other shortcuts from it :)

Renju, you are a true genius. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this to P1i users from around the world. It took a couple of attempts (mostly user error on my part, I am sure), but it definitely worked! What a wonderful addition to an already fantastic phone.
A couple of things to note for those who may be having difficulty.
1) Make sure you don't run the Capsswitch app (mentioned above in the comments) while following the original instructions. I found that this created problems when running the .py file and Swiss Manager.
2) Make sure to follow the port section closely. This is critical!
Once you have copied successfully, and restarted, the Walkman app should appear in your "Tools" section. If it isn't there, you either need to go to Task Manager and make sure the Music Player is closed down and restart, or, if that doesn't work, start the install process all over.

I tried ur second guidance, I installed capsswitch and xplore to my SE P1i. Download wplayer_v3_swmail_mod.zip and extract to computer (my document) with folder WalkmanPlayerV3. First time I could copy this folder with all sub folder to my memory stick then with xplore copy the C folder to C: drive (phone memory) but before that I've running capsswitch, the restart the phone, but still not working. Can u give me more specific information .. Tq
AFTER INSTALING CAPSSWITCH SWITCH OFF CAPABILITIES AND THEN COPY THE FILES FROM THE C FOLDER THAT YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED TO THE RESPECTIVE FOLDERS IN THE PHONE MEMORY...

I updated my P1i today to its latest version. IT took around 30 mins for the entire thing to be done.
then i downloaded the capswitch and ran the .sis file thru the aplication installer.
I turned off the capabilties.
after this i shud be able to copy the contents of the "C" folder from the walkman.zip file right ?
I dont see the "DCIM" folder in the phone memory, am i ding something wrong ?
I bought my P1i in Singapore, and is unlocked.

In the older version of the firmware, i could install capswitch - tunr capabilties off and also be able to copy the contents of the "C" folder into my phone memory/DCIM. but i wasnt seeing the walkman3.0 aplication in my tools.
so thats the reason i upgraded, and now the DCIM folder does not show up in my phone memoey even after switching off capabilities.
Everytime i turn off and ON the phone, the capabilties goes back to being on
