After activating 3G, set the APN as given below.

Connection Speeds and download transfer rates

Both the connection speed and download transfer rate of docomo 3G seems to vary from 1Mbps to 3.5Mbps [max] and download speed maximum of 500KBps. But for some areas, the network seemed to switch back and forth between EDGE and 3G network making it very unstable for smooth downloads.

For new customers
1. The steps at http://www.tatadocomo.com/enjoy3Gnow/ doesn't work i.e sms'ing '3GLife' to 53333
2. Even this doesn't work… sms 'act3G' to 53333 as suggested by a customer care guy yesterday. we get a sms from Dive-Voice..with ####4 etc
3. Today another customer care executive suggested using 'FRC 3G' from a retailer. But none are aware and even the dealer helpline is not aware on how to activate 3G
4. Although internet is working and am getting charged for it

yes. Only 100Mb free download is available in docomo 3G network and after that you'll have to pay.

Which means you'll get 3G download speed with 2G rates.[Applicable only for 7 days]

I guess most of the readers have enjoyed this offer. Take note, in some areas you might experience some initial hickups with this service.

What actual download speed are you getting with this type of connection? I was expecting at least 1MBPS download rate!

But it's a big difference between 2G and 3G.
