Most of the downloads, may it be movies, softwares or games are uploaded into file sharing sites as multi part RAR files with extensions such as .r01, .r02, or .001, .002 etc. These multipart zip or rar files could be extracted with winrar or 7zip as usual but in some cases you might encounter some error while extracting those rar files(.001 files). Here I will show you how to correct or repair corupted .001 or .r01 rar files, generally called as multi part rar files.
Normally while you extract the split rar files with winrar, you will get a single file as output. But sometimes you might have got an error while extracting .001 rar files like shown in the screenshot below.
RAR files errors :"Unexpected end of file" or "CRC checks failure" or CRC failed in file. The file is corrupt. How to fix these errors caused due to uncompleted archive download or file write failure in hard disk.
This error of .001 rar/zip files might be due a single corrupted part file and could be repaired with a free tool called AutoUnpack.
AutoUnpack is a freeware utility that can be used to automatically download, repair, and unpack all RAR-, 7z-, zip-, TS – archives, or splitted files (e.g. *.001), which is especially useful for usenet binaries. This free software could automatically extract and repair a corrupted rar archive.Although this software will not magically recover catastrophically damaged files, it’s always a useful option to have.
How to Repair and Extract .001 or .r01 rar files for free
Download Autorunpack and install it.
Download the multipart rar files(.001 or.r01) and move all subfolders with movie archives under a single parent folder and give the parent folder location to Autounpack.
The software will verify whether the repair was successful. If so, it will unpack the archive to extract the files. It will extract every multipart rar archive under the parent folder, including those inside subfolders.
Summary:Freeware which could be used to automatically extract and repair corrupted .001 rar files

Thanks. This was just what i was looking for 🙂
Tested 5 files and they came up as failed. Guess it doesn't always repair?
It worked like a charm !! thanks
Failed on 2 different RAR collections
. No mention of Password protected files so I don't know if that was the reason why one failed.
It is free so nothing lost, installs fine and easy to use.
It does kind of nothing…
Archive Test: failed
nothin more nothin less
it does not tell me why and
is completly not user friendly
It doesn't work if you don't have PAR or PAR2 files included. Since virtually no torrent or download includes them, this is essentially a useless program and can join the many, many, many other list of useless non-fixing RAR programs.
