Latest IRCTC Tatkal Trick to Book Confirmed Ticket

irctc booking trick firebug Since the time IRCTC has blocked ‘Quick Book’ link, getting confirmed tatkal ticket has become even harder. It’s has become almost impossible to get confirmed tatkal ticket ‘the traditional way’. This has forced me to find another trick to get confirmed tatkal ticket.

We are going to see the whole procedure in two steps. It is a lengthy process. So stay focused.

Requirement

To use this technique, you need to have Firefox browser. Install firefox browser if you don’t have it. You also need to install Firebug extension. Once you have firefox browser with firebug extension, you are ready to use this technique.

Start The Booking

I frequently need to book tickets between NAGPUR (NGP) and AHMEDABAD JN (ADI). So I am going to show you the process of booking tatkal ticket between these two stations.

The whole process is divided in two parts and this process works only with trains running daily.

Let’s start the process.

Part 1:

Assume that you are booking ticket on 7th of July, before 8:00 AM and you want to book the ticket for 9th July from ADI to NGP. We want to book ticket in HOWRAH EXPRESS (12833) for 3A class. I am taking HOWRAH EXPRESS as an example because it runs daily.

Now initiate the tatkal booking process for 8th of July. But wait, we need ticket for 9th of July. Why am I booking for 8th of July? Well, this process needs you to do so. I will explain the full details later in part 2. As for now, just do as I say. We are not going to actually book the ticket on 8th of July. We will just initiate the booking procedure and stop it when we reach up to the payment gateway page as shown in below.

Now click on the ‘Plan my Travel’ link from the navigation bar. Here starts our part-2 where we actually book ticket for 9th of July.

Part 2:

Since you already started the booking procedure, you now have all form details pre-filled. Select the journey date 9th of July and select quota as General.

IRCTC-Tatkal-Find Trains

Again the question comes in mind – Why select quota as General? Well, if you select quota as Tatkal for 9th of July, and assuming that you are booking on 7th of July, before 8:00AM, you won’t be able to pass the first page. You will get the following error.

So to avoid the above error, we select the quota as General. We will change the quota in the middle of booking process using the firebug extension.

Now start the booking process. Click on “Find Train.” Select the train and class. You will have all the forms already pre-filled by IRCTC web site. When you reach on the Passenger Details page, press F12 key. F12 key opens firebug module in your browser as shown in below image.

In the firebug console, search (top-right corner) for “quota” as shown in following image.

In the console, you need to change the value=”GN” to value=”CK”.

Now close the firebug, enter the captcha and click on Go button.

On the Next screen, check the quota detail. It should show Tatkal as quota. You will get the next screen with error. Just ignore the error and click on “Make Payment” button.

If you haven’t performed the part 1, then you won’t get Make Payment button option. Without that option, you can’t go ahead. You will be stuck on that page and you will have to do the whole procedure again. So now you know how important is part 1 process.

Now you have reached to the payment gateway page. So as soon as it’s 8:00AM in your computer clock, select your prefer payment gateway. Give the payment details and your ticket booking process is complete.

So using the above technique you bypass first 3 steps of booking process. You just have to perform only one step in order to complete the ticket booking. This technique is even quicker than “Quick Book” link.

Important Notes

  • Make sure that your computer clock shows exact same time of IRCTC server.
  • Complete all steps before 8:00AM. You have to be on payment gateway selection page when it’s 8:00AM.
  • If you complete all steps before 7:56AM then you need to keep session active. Otherwise when you select payment gateway, you will get session expire error.
  • To keep the session active, visit the following link in another browser of your system.
  • https://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60.dll/irctc/services/servicesNTerms.do?LinkValue=5&voucher=29&BV_SessionID=SESSIONID&BV_EngineID=BV_EngineID
  • You need to change SESSIONID(RED) and BV_EngineID (RED) with your current session ID and BV Engine ID. You can find those values in URL. Visiting the above URL every 3 minutes keeps your session active.
  • This technique works only with trains running daily. If you need to book ticket on train running only 1 or 2 days of week, then you will have to perform few more steps. I will address that situation in my next post.

    While i tried the steps u told during evening just to get familiarised with the process i got an error message atlast as " PLEASE TRY SOME OTHER TRAINS " and not " COMMUNICATION ERROR". Why is that ? can i proceed with payment ?

    You can get BV_SessionID and BV_EngineID from the URL after login to IRCTC. Each variable has values similar to following.

    BV_EngineID=ccchadfedfghhhmcefecehidfgmdfhm.0

    Just change those values with your URL values.

    I have never seen that error. Give me station names, train name and the date for which you have tried. I will look in to that.

    That is the available quota for 8th July. Since we first tried to book ticket for 8th July in part 1, the availability quota shown are for that day. All tickets are available assuming that you are booking on 7th July for journey date 9th July. Just ignore that quota value.

    Thanks for your kind attention…I have two queries??
    1). I have been trying the technique for two days. But after selecting the bank(for Payment) it shows the error "Sorry you can book ticket after 8:00 hrs" irrespective of the fact that I am doing after 8:00 AM. Am I doing any thing wrong???
    2). I am giving the station name and train no. as you have asked.
    Suppose I have to book ticket from Gorakhpur (GKP) to VAPI on 16th July. The train no. is 19038 (AVADH EXP). Here you can't proceed since availability shows "REGRET".
    Kindly help me out in both situation….

    1) Are you getting that error on top of the screen with RED fonts? If so then the only reason I can think of is that your computer clock is few minutes ahead than IRCTC server. So when it's 8:00AM in your computer, it's not 8:00AM on IRCTC server and you get that error. Make sure that your computer clock is automatically synchronize with Internet time server. That will give you accurate time.

    2)I checked for the stations you have given. There is a work around for that situation also. Open firebug console(F12 Key). Search for "return bookticketfunc" . Change that to "return bookticketfunc(16,7,2011,0)" assuming that 16/7/2011 is the first in the list. In bracket, first three digits represents the date. If you are trying for 13/7/2011 then you will change it to "return bookticketfunc(13,7,2011,0)". Got it? Now the forth digit is the sequence number. That is very important. If 16/7/2011 is the second in the list then you will change it to "return bookticketfunc(16,7,2011,1)", If 16/7/2011 is the third in the list then change it to "return bookticketfunc(16,7,2011,2)" and so on…. If you put wrong sequence number then you won't get correct date. Now click on the first 'Book' link and you will see your date on the next screen.

    Let me know if you have any more problems.

    Thanks for your valuable response….. But I would like to inform you that
    1) My clock is already synchronized and on the payment option page of irctc also shows the timing more than 8 o'clock. Still the red message appears.

    2) I could not find "return bookticketfunc" in firebug console. There is option "returnBank…". I tried on every page(i.e, Plan my travel, Train list page, after availability and so on.. but couldn't succeed. Please specify on which I need to search or whether there any other name which can help??

    @ Prashant Ranjan..irctc has chaneged sum funtion now this trick of changin gneral to tatkal quota is no more working… plan my travel should be passed after 8 am only.. then only payment will work

    It seems that many people are complaining about the error after payment gateway. I will look in to the issue tomorrow. Meanwhile I would like to know that whether the error comes in dialog box or on-the-page with RED fonts? Please let me know that will help me find the issue if there is any.

    i tried nd got same error… can not book…… well error is coming on the page with red font. but atleast your step 1 save some time by auto filling the form.so after 8 when i tried to book, form was auto filled and i was able to book the ticket relatively faster.

    Very vital problem. I have completed 1st part. then i have clickd on "plan my travel" quota=gn. on the form filling page i hv changed GN to CK. but next page is showing the ticket fare as general ticket. it does not showing tatkal fare. then plz give me solution as soon as possible. i need to book my ticket.

    Today I checked and I got the error too. IRCTC has implemented another security layer from server side. It seems that IRCTC site is checking time before forwarding to the payment gateway. They might have set it to 8:01. Try at 8:00:30 and 8:01. Please report back here if you find the exact time. I will also try tomorrow to get the exact time. We don't need to worry with this because if we can't book the ticket using this technique than no one can until that time is passed. 🙂

    I think we need to find tricks for booking tickets on Indian Railways new ticket booking system http://www.indianrailways.gov.in
    Since this site is relatively new the security checks will be minimal and easy to bypass. Will really appreciate if some one can find a way to book tatkal tickets on this website and post a link here.

    it is possible to disable java scripts using Firefox addon.

    I use to do trick with Quick booking earlier with firefox. but was very disappointed after quick booking gone blocked for an hour.

    Myself Sankar from kolkata, watching your blog and comments, problems, solution from last 3 months, I have worked with your latest tricks, but I have never post any comments as well as I am facing same problem as like as "Sorry you can book ticket after 8:00 hrs (in red)". But now the problem going to be serious. After select the bank the server getting or connect the time from first page ( Plan My Page ) and we have to break that connection or change time on plan my page. Due to server load you cant book faster after open plan my page in 8.00 am and this is to inform you IRCTC made a set up in Bombay for watching all the blogs, software, tricks which are accelerate the booking procedure in 8.00am and also they are tracking ip address of the computers and they are working on their site with the different kind of software’s which will make perfect the site, in this connection my suggestion, if you find any solution please don't post in this blog, just post “got final solution”, we will find you to get that solve.

    Thanks for posting the trick, but doesn't seem to be working now. I did all the steps as you mentioned, but the Payment link doesn't appear after you change the the quote to CK using Firebug.

    Hi All,
    These tricks are not working. IRCTC has now disabled all tricks. I think that's good for everyone. Now all will get equal chance to book tatkal ticket.

    Even if anyone find the trick to book tatkal ticket instantly, IRCTC cancel all tickets booked before 8:03 as mentioned in one of the comments at

    The steps are really well described. I, however, have not managed to get the "make payment" button even after performing the part1. I dont see the error message "unable to retrieve fare information due to connection failure" though.

    BIGGEST ONLINE TATKAL PROBLEM

    my train starts at 20.30 on 17-9-2011 but i have to board the train at a station where train reaches at 3.00 am 18-9-2011. I tried to book tatkal ticket on 15.9.2011. it said 3 days before u cannot book. But after 1 hour all the tickets are over because people starting from other stations have already booked for the day 17-9-2011 for the same train as it is only 2 days before for them.

    What is the solution ?

    I was very busy with few other things. It's confirmed now that IRCTC has implemented very strict security condition which doesn't allow this trick to work. So all people are getting error after payment gateway.Sorry you can not book ticket before 8:00 AM

    Your trick has a major flaw see if I pay 10 rupees in general ticket then I have to pay 20 rupees in tatkal payment, so changing quota value to tatkal won't change the fare which it initially was. So you are paying less amount to irctc which could be caught when a tt checks your ticket or to simply say the method is illegal.

    These all tricks are not going to work since , IRCTC is monitoring all the tricks through a new kind of auditing application installed on their server. All the userid's and IP addresses are being monitored. They will not allow you now to have tickets through any trick(temperoary) even if you find one on internet except the straight forward way of booking tickets.

    Even the agents login is blocked for 1 hour and each and every account on IRCTC server is in verification process , so all fake and invalid accounts will be blocked.Till date already 1,54,786 accounts are blocked.

    If you really want a tatkal ticket , be a MAN and line up in the queue.

    It looks like this trick is now aged and not working to anyone?
    But I don't understand one thing, How did they decide that tatkal ticket booking takes 4.31 mins? People who try with good internet speed and bit of luck if they get confirmed ticket before 8.03, what happens ? Will that still get canceled?

    It looks this is really bad idea. Instead I would have appreciated if they fix their server side code by checking time on each screen movement (or on each form submission)

    Try this step to book Tatkal ticket 1 day ahead…

    complete the above tasks mentioned in the post before clicking on Go

    then search for "passengers[0].idCardType"
    under that change the <option value="0" to "PANC"
    to input ur PAN CARD then u'd find a text box underneath it which is hidden just remove the style attribute
    now u should be able to see the txt to input ur pan card

    bingo !!!

    If we are booking tatkal ticket using General quote in the beginning as you said and change it in the middle by using Firebug extension F12 (GN to CK) then we put capcha and go it ask for ID Card type and its number while in the filling form there is no such field because we have selected GN quote in the beginning. Kindly let me know how can i proceed further?

    Nice work bro but i have 1 que tht whnever i am changing Quota = GN to Quota = CK after that i m filling captcha and after that i am submiting but it shows "PLEASE ENTER YOUR VALID ID PROOF NUMBER"
    according to new rule so do you have any trick to resolve this issue…
    I appreciate you if you give your suggestion within two days b'coz i have to buk tatkal tkt to go pune and its emergency.

    I have test this trick but when i goes to next from the process of firebug on that time i am getting message for fill the information of id card but on same screen no option of the id card information.
    Please give the solution.

    Hi,
    The IRCTC site has recently changed and needs license number with the passenger details for tatkal booking, also I think they now have server side validation of ARP date, so even using firebug booking will not be possible.
    Please check and see if ur still able to make a payment for booking a ticket in tatkal that’s not within ARP.
